Preserves Jawbone

One of the biggest benefits of dental implants is that they preserve your jawbone. This rejuvenates your youthful appearance and keeps your bite functional.

The Process

The Dental Implants process

1

Consultation

You’ll get started with a consultation with Springfield dentist Dr. Cline where we’ll provide a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants. This is your chance to ask any questions or raise any concerns so you can go into the process with peace of mind. This is a no-judgment office, so we’ll do everything we can to ensure you feel great about your decision.

2

Implant Placement

Next phase is placement. After coming to our office, we’ll numb your mouth so you won’t feel a thing. We also provide sedation if you feel anxious. Next, we’ll make a small incision into your jawbone and insert the biocompatible screw that serves as your artificial tooth root. Then comes the healing period, also known as osseointegration. This is the phase where your implant merges with your jawbone, setting a strong foundation for the restoration. The process typically takes 6-9 months before we place your new tooth.

3

Placement

After the healing period, you’ll come back to our office for placement. After attaching an abutment, an attachment place for the screw to connect to the restoration, we’ll carefully place your new tooth onto the abutment and cement it with a strong dental adhesive. Congratulations! You will walk out of our office with a beautiful smile and restored confidence.

Common Questions

Questions about Dental Implants, answered.

How do I take care of my dental implants?

Taking care of your dental implants is the same as your normal hygiene routine. Be sure to brush and floss regularly, using a soft-bristled toothbrush, and schedule checkups at Elevate Dental Studio to ensure the implant is functioning properly and catch any potential problems early on.

What are the benefits of dental implants compared to other tooth replacement options?

Dental implants offer several advantages over other tooth replacement options.

  • They are durable and can last a lifetime with proper care, making them a more long-term solution than dentures or bridges.
  • Dental implants are more comfortable and stable since they are anchored directly to your jawbone.
  • Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, which can improve your confidence.
  • Dental implants also improve your overall oral health since they do not require the alteration of neighboring teeth, unlike bridges.
  • They can improve speech and eating abilities, and help preserve bone density in the jaw.

How long does it take to get a dental implant?

The overall timeline from consultation to final restoration is typically 6–9 months, which reflects the healing period after implant placement — the phase where your implant fuses with the jawbone and establishes a strong foundation. Your specific timeline will depend on your oral health and how quickly you heal.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. The implant itself — the titanium screw anchored in your jawbone — is built to be a permanent solution. The crown attached to the top may eventually need to be replaced after many years of wear, but the implant foundation is designed to remain intact indefinitely.

Are dental implants safe?

Yes. Dental implants are made from biocompatible titanium, meaning your body recognizes and accepts the material rather than rejecting it. They have been used successfully in dentistry for decades and are considered the gold standard for permanent tooth replacement.

Do dental implants look natural?

Absolutely. The visible portion of your implant — the crown — is custom-crafted to match the shape, size, and shade of your surrounding teeth, so most people won’t be able to tell the difference.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

Most adults who are missing one or more teeth and have adequate jawbone density are good candidates. Good overall oral and general health is also important, as certain conditions can affect healing. Dr. Cline will evaluate your teeth, gums, and bone structure during your consultation to determine if implants are the right fit for you.

Does insurance cover dental implants?

Coverage varies significantly by plan. Some dental insurance plans cover a portion of the cost, while others exclude implants as a benefit. Our team is happy to help you verify your coverage before your appointment so there are no surprises.

How do dental implants compare to dentures?

Dental implants are surgically anchored in your jawbone, which means they function, feel, and look like natural teeth. They don’t slip, don’t need to be removed at night, and help preserve the jawbone over time. Dentures are a more affordable upfront option but require ongoing maintenance, can shift when speaking or eating, and don’t prevent the bone loss that occurs when a tooth root is missing.

How do dental implants compare to a dental bridge?

A dental bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring a crown to the two neighboring teeth — which requires those teeth to be shaved down, even if they’re healthy. An implant stands on its own without affecting adjacent teeth and also preserves jawbone density, which a bridge cannot do.

How do I care for my dental implants?

Caring for implants is straightforward — treat them like your natural teeth. Brush twice a day, floss daily, and come in for regular checkups and cleanings at Elevate Dental Studio.
